GeoCat Bridge tab¶
In this version of GeoCat Bridge, all publishing is triggered from buttons in the GeoCat Bridge tab of the so-called ribbon interface at the top. It also contains some buttons that allow you to toggle specific views.
The GeoCat Bridge ribbon tab should look similar to this:
The ribbon is divided into 2 groups: Views and Publish.
Views group¶
The Views group contains all buttons that toggle a (dockable) pane.
Settings button¶
Shows the GeoCat Bridge settings in the so-called ArcGIS Pro backstage. This is the same location where you can also find the ArcGIS Pro project settings.
For information on how to set up GeoCat Bridge, please consult the configuration walkthrough.
Manage Content button¶
Shows (or hides) the Data Spaces pane and focuses on the Content tab.
Here you can view and manage your GeoServer node(s).
Style Preview button¶
Shows (or hides) the Style Preview pane where you can preview the converted SLD symbology of selected layers.
Publish group¶
The Publish group contains all buttons that perform some kind of publishing action:
- Publish Map button
-
Layer buttons:
-
Style buttons:
Publishing Context
All button actions depend on the active data space which can be set in the Data Spaces panel.
Publish Map button¶
If you wish to publish the whole active map (i.e. all publishable layer data, styles, and group layers) as a GeoServer workspace,
this button is for you. However, it is important to note that the behavior of this button depends on how you configured it.
Warning
Be aware that this publishing action is (potentially) destructive: any existing target workspace of the same name
will be purged and replaced by the new one. If you wish to keep your workspace contents, use the other
publishing buttons instead (e.g. All Layers
).
Note that a warning only shows up if you have configured the button to not start publishing immediately:
All Layers button¶
Publishes all (group) layers of the active map to the selected workspace, preserving existing workspace content. However, note that any layers and/or styles in the target workspace with the same name will be overwritten.
Selected Layers button¶
Behaves the same as the All Layers
button, but will only publish the layers
that you have selected in the Table of Contents (TOC) of the active map.
This button will only be available if one or more layers have been selected.
All Styles button¶
Behaves the same as the All Layers
button, but it only publishes the layer style
without the (meta)data. This may be useful e.g. if you have updated the symbology in ArcGIS Pro,
and you wish to apply these changes to the GeoServer layers as well,
without having to upload (potentially large) datasets again.
Selected Styles button¶
This button behaves the same as the All Styles
button, but will only publish the styles
of the layers that you have selected in the Table of Contents (TOC) of the active map.
This button will only be available if one or more layers have been selected.
