Mapping Services

Mapping services have been updated to the latest GeoCat Map 2026.0 technology, now based on GeoServer 3.0.1. This is a major upgrade marking the completion of the GeoServer 3 project, with extensive user experience, security, and Spring Framework updates.

Highlights for this release include:

Responsive theme, with dark mode support and many usability improvements.
New User expereince, offering a context-driven approach.
OGC API Services are now listed on the welcome page, workspace pages, and individual layers, alongside existing WMS/WFS/WCS protocols.
Full screen OpenLayers preview
GeoWebCache tile caching is now security-aware, respecting GeoServer's data access rules when serving cached tiles.
New OIDC extension, replacing the previous OAuth2 and Keycloak extensions, with a new Keycloak Role Service available alongside it.
Continued OGC API integration, with service configuration pages refactored by topic.
