Use acceptance and production environments

Publication workflow

Some organizations use an acceptance environment as part of their publication workflow. Data is published to an acceptance environment for review and approval. Once confirmed the (meta)data is transferred to the production environment using a harvester.

As part of the harvester an anonymize filter can be applied, which removes sensitive elements from the (meta)data.

Mapping QA

During publication authors often make revisions to the data and cartography used for their mapping product.

  • Use of an acceptance environment can be beneficial with GeoCat Bridge, to avoid a failed or partial upload interrupting an existing service.

  • By first trying the publication on an acceptance environment, you can verify that the publication will be fine in production.

  • As an acceptance environment for GeoCat Bridge you can use a local GeoServer and/or GeoNetwork installation.

Alternatively order a second Live service at a discounted rate.
